MasterCard home page without a search box

With a Google PageRank of 7/10 and Alexa ranking at 12,554 at the time of writing this post, MasterCard is one of the busiest sites in the world and with tons of content. Amazingly, the US gateway page (I chose it from the splash page) doesn't have a fundamental requirement- a search box. I couldn't even find a Site Map.

Sure, the home page itself is a directory style listing that is close in function to a site map, but I was left frustrated not being able to see a search box. And, it's not just the home page- the entire site doesn't have one. Amazing, but true. I am having a hard time convincing myself that this was a deliberate decision by MasterCard as opposed to being poor usability design.

So, what was I trying to do? Find an article about a survey MasterCard had conducted about online donation systems on charity web sites.
